Bruise: Causes, Symptoms, Treatment

A bruise is usually caused by a blow or by bumping into something. There is no visible injury to the tissue.

Symptoms

The affected area is often swollen and an effusion of blood can be seen. A bruise can be very painful. Bruising is caused by the bleeding of small injured veins under the skin. If deep-lying blood vessels are injured then the bleeding results in swelling.
