The Five Tibetans

What are the Five Tibetans?

The Five Tibetans from Peter Kelder are simple physical exercises – apparently guarded for a long time in old monasteries in the Himalayas – seasoned with a generous dash of yoga. It is promised that the aging process can be stopped and even be reversed by many years if the Five Tibetans are done everyday.

The effect of the Five Tibetans as well as the fact that these exercises were practiced my Tibetan Monks has not be proven.

As the name “Five Tibetans” already suggests, the exercise rituals consist of the following five exercises:

  1. Spinning
  2. The Candle
  3. The Half Circle
  4. The Bridge
  5. The Inverted V

Are the Five Tibetans suitable for everyone?

Existing symptoms can intensify in people who have thyroid gland disorders and spinal damages in the neck and lumbar region. The Five Tibetan exercises 3, 4 and 5 are particularly not recommended for those with back problems.

Are the Five Tibetans effective?

The very easy Five Tibetan exercises are certainly not harmful and can strengthen the body and muscles. The fact that the Five Tibetans stops the aging process seems to be an esoteric myth as does the already mentioned “Source of Youth” monastery in the Himalayas.
